Provenance:
Notes from the Lochaber Mountain Rescue Association (LMRA) minute book dated November 11th 1964 tell us that 4 x duvets had been purchased and we are fairly sure that this is one of them. Duvets were the fashion item back then and they did keep you very warm though they were bulky and it was cold without them on, the down filling was pretty useless in the wet too.

A layering system of clothing evolved with waterproof jacket plus trousers on top if required. Duvets then really did become the fashion as it was essential machismo wear in the bar, even if you sweated out the beer as fast as you drank it. They were finally relegated to various lofts where George Bruce, one time member of LMRA, ultimately recovered his and donated it to us.
