The two Ians, Sutherland and Sykes, opened their little climbing shop in Fort William (Scotland) back in 1970, sitting, as it does, in the shadow of Ben Nevis, they decided to call the little enterprise Nevisport. The Nevisport ’empire’ went from strength to strength over the next few decades, eventually having thirteen different outlets dotted around the UK. A management buyout around 2006/7 brought the two Ians’ reign to an end with the company taken over by Trespass shortly after.
Nevisport came up with a vast array of innovative ideas during their time, many of which you’ll find elsewhere in the collection. The sleeping bag we have here in the collection is not particularly innovative, having been bought ‘en masse’ and branded with a Nevisport label – nice little timepiece whatever.
