Provenance:
Another set of homemade ski poles/sticks that,we are hoping, have been saved from the skip by soaking them in woodworm fluid for several days. The mere fact that they are homemade helps date them pretty well as few were made after the Second World War, so possibly as late as the 1950’s, but more likely 1930’s and made from hazel chopped down in the local wood. The baskets look like they may have been bought from somewhere like the Sportsman’s Emporium – see opposite – or maybe recycled from another set. These poles were part of the collection passed on by the Scottish Ski Club and, unfortunately, we don’t know who the original donor was – thanks anyway, whoever you were.
