Provenance:
The Provincial Incandescent Fittings Co began life way back in 1900 under the ownership of a guy called Joseph Webber. Initially selling equipment for gas lighting, the company (now with a shorter name – Pifco) went on to be a major supplier of battery powered head and tail lamps for bicycles in the 1930s. A range of torches and other lighting appliances followed and we reckon it must have been around 1980 that this Pifco headlamp appeared. A French company called Pile produced their version of a headlamp about the same time. It was a much better product and preferred by the mountaineering fraternity. We’ve got rather fond of historical headlamps and have lots more in the collection – check ’em out.
