Provenance:
Lovely set of Cassin pitons here dating from the 1960s, a time when pitons were the main form of protection for rock climbers who were usually armoured with an array orfpitons along with a piton hammer when they went climbing. Riccardo Cassin was a famous Italiam mountaineer and decorated war hero, having fought with the partisans in World War Two. He started making mountaineering equipment in the little Italian town of Lecco in 1947 and pitons were some of his first products.

We’ve gathered these four ‘Cassins’ from various sources to make a set and can now add them to our ever growing piton collection.
