Provenance:
If you are looking for a pair of ski boots with a bit of character then you’ve found them. They belonged to another character called Betty Locke who amongst other things was a Tiller girl.

Tiller girls were named after John Tiller who is recognised as the father of precision dance and formed his first all girl dance line-up back in 1890. Betty came along a bit later (circa 1950) and obviously managed some skiing along with her dancing.

Betty’s customised her boots somewhat adding a few nails and small rubber pads, probably for walking between snow patches. The boots were totally dried out so we cooked them up in some Mars Oil on the Rayburn leaving them totally impregnated and preserved, if a little darker. No makers’ name visible except a small EE on the sole, so they are now Betty Locke’s Ski Boots dating from the 1950s and looking like they have danced around a bit!
