Provenance:
A Norwegian called Martin Madshus started making skis in the little town of Vardal, Norway, in 1906. Like all skis from that era the first Madshus versions were made from a single piece of wood, with the first laminated skis arriving in 1934, taking advantage of new glue technology. Martin expanded in 1936 moving to a new factory in Lillehamer and making ever more laminated skis for the ever growing market in cross-country and downhill skiing which had now become an Olympic sport.

The Madshus skis we have here in the collection date from the 1960s when laminated skis had reached perfection, unfortunately that perfection was short-lived as plastic and glass-fibre skis came along rendering laminated skis a thing of the past. The skis are still in near perfect condition and ready for a day out in the snow, they were donated by our good friend Rod McLeod.
