We wonder if it was these stripes that upset the instructors.
Another Gucci one by Carlo Gruber.
Label is faded on this one, though it’s very ‘up market’.

Provenance:
These jumpers were kindly donated by Elizabeth Forbes on behalf of her late husband, Alan. Both Elizabeth and Alan were avid downhill skiers with a lifelong passion for the Glencoe ski slopes here in Scotland. They skied abroad too, and we suspect it was on one of those trips that Alan bought two of these jumpers, as Carlo Gruber (see pic above) was a high end fashion-wear outfit confined to the European market.

We can’t read the other label but suspect it’s of a similar ilk.

Elizabeth also gave us three sets of skis and an old ice axe. She also told us a little story about the jumpers. It seems that the up-market jumpers with stripes on were pretty much reserved for ski instructors in Alan’s time and, as a result, he was challenged for wearing one as he wasn’t an instructor. Elizabeth didn’t tell us what the reply was!
