Provenance:
A bourach translates from old Scots dialect as a confused heap of stones among several other things. In this case we need to insert yellow webbing in place of stones.

It was the 1980s and only a couple of decades since climbers had been simply tying the rope around their middle to go climbing. Tape webbing had been invented to make waist-belts, leg loops came next to create a sit harness and spread the load.

Wild Country got mountain guide, Pat Littlejohn to help them with an early sit harness and we have one of them here. Buckle technology was fairly embryonic back then too, though if you were any good at Chinese puzzles and had steel fingers you might get it on and go climbing before it got dark. These were pretty embryonic harnesses and did lead the way to much better versions.
